To sleep or not to sleep

Sleep training was implemented when the twins reached 9 weeks of age (their gestational 6 weeks). I was nervous at first and wouldn't let them cry past 15 minutes. In retaliation over this training, Carter would cry for 15 minutes in which Ainsley was quiet. When Carter would stop, Ainsley would start crying for another 15 minutes. Eventually, they did tire themselves out and fall asleep for their naps. The real breakthrough was when they would sleep 5-6 hours at night. The first couple of nights, I would wake up after three hours to listen for their cries. If they were crying when I woke, I would go feed them but all I heard was silence. I paced back and forth while listening for their cries. Then I decided to take a risk and started to pump....still nothing. That night, the twins didn't wake up till around 5:30am to eat.

Since having started back at work, I haven't been able to find time to keep this journal up. This entry started about our sleep training and how well the twins took to it-that was 2 weeks ago. The past couple of nights, Carter woke up once at 4am and then 230am the following night. Not sure what is going on but I hope it's just a growth spurt and not their new routine.

Babies got to go to another party!

Two months!

The twins have reached two months and what do they get? Shots! Ugh, they had to get their vaccines at the doctor's office and I felt so bad for them. Carter went first and I had to hold his little hands down while the nurse injected the entire needle into his boney little thigh. I was surprised that the needle didn't poke out the other side. His big eyes got even bigger and then the screams followed. Poor little guy. Ainsley handled it much better than I thought she would. Still, it was heart breaking.

Look at Ainsley's little tears under her eyes. Poor baby.

Then there were their monthly sticker photo shoots-Ainsley looks like she was crying worse here than when she got her shots & I know this was not nearly as bad as shots. I wonder when they would actually start enjoying these little photo shoots.

Month two wasn't all about crying though. Carter and Ainsley also got to go to their first party!

We started to read more...

Not huge fans of tummy time though.

Ainsley: "Carter, pick your head up or else we're going to be stuck doing this forever."

Clothes & Shopping!

Over the past month, Carter and Ainsley have started nursing well and are growing quite quickly. Ainsley is a whopping 10 lbs 4.5 oz now and Carter weighs 8 lbs 14 oz!

Carter has a ton of clothes courtesy of his generous cousin, Timmy, but due to his small frame, there weren't many outfits that fit him. Will bought two preemie outfits for him which he might have worn once or twice. He soon outgrew that but couldn't fit into newborn clothes yet.

Will is holding Carter up here after putting him into a newborn outfit that pretty much swallowed him up.

Here is another preemie outfit that we managed to have Carter wear once or twice.

For a while, the only outfit that fit him well was this Halloween outfit I had purchased from Gap on sale so Carter wore this....all the time. This was one of our favorite outfits to put on him because of the zipper. Zipper onesies are the best thing ever.

Ainsley is now onto 0-3 month clothes and it makes me so sad that there were some really cute newborn clothes that she never got to wear. I love this little green velour outfit we put her in for St. Patrick's day.

After being cooped up in the house for what seems like a year and a half, Will and I took the twins on a couple of shopping excursions.

All bundled up for the ride. Ainsley is pretty cool with shopping. Carter only likes it as long as he is being pushed the whole time over bumpy grooves on the floor, not carpet. It makes for good exercise.

Here, we are all at Polaris mall and their first time in Macy's store elevator. (Really exciting stuff here)
