Lots going on between two and three months

The twins have reached three months and this was the easiest monthly picture that we've taken. No crying occurred and both stayed sitting somewhat upright.

Between their two and three month birthdays, lots have happened. I've returned to work and we've started dropping the babies off at my sister's house for my parents to babysit. It is such a blessing that my mom is willing and able to watch them. The transition back to work was definitely made easier because of this.

Ainsley briefly worn a few 0-3 month outfits and is now moving onto 3M outfits. I didn't realize that 3M was even a separate size and just assumed it was another version of 0-3M. Nope, the order is NB, 0-3M, 3M followed by 3-6M. I've sadly kept a few of my favorite 0-3M outfits with the hopes that Ainsley might still fit in them. It's unlikely though as she was lounging around comfortably in a 3-6M onesie the other day. Carter has outgrown his newborn clothes and moved onto 0-3M! Yay! My baby boy is growing!
The twins have started returning our smiles when we would make silly faces at them with encouragement. Carter is a social butterfly and flashes that million dollar toothless grin generously. Ainsley is a bit more reserved so when she smiles, I feel like I've won the lottery. More often than not, Ainsley's lips are pursed in a suckling motion indicating that she wants her milk. Now.

Seriously, where's my milk?!

Our feeding sessions start with some demanding cries and diaper changes. The twins are quite smart and start calming down during the diaper change because they realize what is next. Feeding time. After feeding time, Will and I both simultaneously burp one and then the conversation starts between us and the baby we are holding. Carter likes to play and opens his mouth wide as if to call or laugh. Ainsley will make "err" noises at you and when returned, she's a full on talker. I wonder if she will be as talkative later after attaining that skill than she is now.

This month, the twins were treated to a special visit from the Wu's! Mackenzie is doing such a good job holding Carter here. McKayla was a little shy about holding them but sooner or later, they will be able to all play together!

This month, we also took the twins to their first dining experience at a restaurant! We all went to Lucky Dragon on campus. This place used to be Yuen's which used to be Chinese Village. It was a little nerve wrecking but my aunt Mandy did a great job holding Carter.

This is how the future generation eats - a fork in one hand and texting with the other.

Visitors!

The twins have been so lucky to have lots of visitors after making their debut. One of their first ones is the infamous Dr. Chan!

Not only did the twins like their visitors but I did as well especially when they brought food. Conversion with adults was always a breath of fresh air-it's always nice when someone I'm talking to actually responds.

Henry's not really a visitor since he's family but I had to document when he first held both twins. Plus, isn't that facial expression priceless???

On the twins' second month birthday, they got a special visit from Grace and Kyle who have a little boy, Zach, who is a few months older than the twins. Zach thought Carter was alright but took to Ainsley RIGHT AWAY.

Zach and Carter

Zach and Ainsley.
Don't think I didn't see Zach's little hand on her leg there. ;P

Here is a picture of Zach and I. What a handsome boy!
I better get to know him well in case him and Ainsley hit it off well. Never hurts to start preparing. ;)

I didn't always remember to get pictures of all the twins' visitors and my apologies for leaving anyoe out. I can only blame sleep deprivation for that.

Thanks to all of you for coming to see the twins!

Spring is Here!

As much fun as watching the snow fall is, by the time April rolls around I was getting a little cabin fever. I think the kids were too, as they'd cry to be not only picked up, but moved around. You can only go around the kitchen island with them so many times before you begin to go just a little insane.

So of course, the first day it was decent out, I was begging Lovanna 'Can we take the kids for a walk?' Decent in my mind was 50+... Mrs. Lee dictated the kids should not go out until it was 60+...  So watching that thermostat ever so closely, the first time it inched over 60 I was out to do a loop around the block. First Carter and then Ainsley in the new ErgoBaby Lovanna had bought for us. Emmy was fascinated I had a baby on my belly, and was just as curious as to whether Brian had one in his belly.. (Love that kid!!)

So time went by, and walks are becoming a more normal thing. We've started to get to know a few new neighbors, as well as a few new additions to the block. This past Saturday we were determined to get some actual walking in. We made it as far as the soccer fields - probably about half a mile. Making progress proved more difficult than Oregon Trail was on the old Apple IIC, what with the beer at the Cathers, the new baby on the corner, and a whole new family with a new baby 2 more houses down..

On the way back we could hear a party in full swing a few houses down from ours. The kids were, of course, far more popular than yours truly; Kelly did manage to share Carter a little.. Ainsley made her rounds too, and had a chance to be held by many of them, including a few of the little girls - Sydney, Evan, Jenna, and Laney (Laney had the bad luck to go last when Ainsley decided she was HUNGRY so she'll have to pose for a photo opp next time!! ) :
We had a blast (thanks Brian and Jen) but we stayed out waaay to late. This was only exasperated by Carter coming down with a cold (his first) on Sunday evening. On top of getting him to bed late, he woke up screaming in the middle of the night.. poor little guy - and no sleep for you know who..

Tonight Mom had plans and Dad is here hoping he can feed them and get them to bed without incident. I would have loved to be at the Orange Township meeting in an effort to keep the Adult Motel out of the community, but priorities and such.. Speaking of which, sounds like Ainsley just woke up, so I'm off!
